KOTA KINABALU (Dec 2): Four Sabahans are among 11 finalists vying for the top spot at the Miss World Malaysia 2024 grand finals which will take place at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here on Tuesday.
They are Kelly Eleanor Tseu, Fillonie Francis, Lyn Sinsua and Tiffany Vaishenevi Pillai Ragupathi from Kota Kinabalu, who are of Chinese Filipino, Lundayeh, Kadazan and Indian descents respectively.
The other contestants battling for the crown are Car Menn Lee from Selangor, Nandhini Sundaram from Kedah, as well as Hantze Liow, Nivashini Wadivello, Plohmeena Sachpreet, Taanusiya Chetty and Sheena Devayani from Kuala Lumpur.
State Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said the event is more than just a celebration of beauty; it is a celebration of purpose, dedication and the potential to drive meaningful change in the society.
“At the heart of this Miss World Malaysia initiative lies the mission of ‘Beauty With A Purpose,’ a vision that aligns seamlessly with the values we uphold in Malaysia and particularly in Sabah.
“Through this platform, we see young women step up to take on leadership roles, championing causes that matter and representing not just their beauty, but their intellect, compassion and resolve.
“Events like these remind us of the significant impact we can make when we come together with a shared purpose.
“Whether it is through promoting tourism, empowering women or supporting charitable causes, the ripple effect of these efforts will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy.
“As we look forward to the grand finals at SICC on Tuesday, let us celebrate the spirit of Miss World Malaysia, the unity it fosters, and the positive change it creates,” he told a press conference at Ibis Styles, Inanam on Monday.
Meanwhile, HyperLive Entertainment Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Sean Wong said as the franchise owner, he is committed to ensuring that the Miss World Malaysia platform continues to empower, inspire and uplift not just the finalists, but the communities they represent.
